Los Angeles Unified School District, Classroom Building
A new, two-story, 16-classroom building was constructed above a single level parking garage. The structure forms an edge to the playground and a neighborhood buffer. The large stairway doubles as bleachers for school activities. The design is enriched with colorful yellow, terra cotta and green accents. Horizontal sun shade louvers and vertical mesh fins shade west and south exposures. The building meets energy saving Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) standards, the green building rating program for K-12 schools. The firm has completed over ten LAUSD projects.
