LCDG has worked with numerous Government Agencies and Municipalities on a broad range of projects over the course of the firm’s history. Evidence of the firm’s quality service is many long-term client relationships and on-call contracts (indefinite quantity, indefinite delivery) the firm holds, including the City of Burbank since 1986, Southern California Edison (SCE) since 2007, and Los Angeles County since 2010. Our experience with various construction delivery methods includes design-bid-build, JOC, and design-build.

An incredible 90% of repeat Government and Municipal work are for repeat clients - a testament to our combined creativity and management in working to solve complex and unique problems.

Project Highlights:

Walnut Valley Water District Headquarters

The transformation of the existing structures into the new Administrative Headquarters building for the Walnut Valley Water District (WVWD) presented a unique opportunity for a design that is reflective of the District’s values. It consolidates necessary programs together in spaces more adequately sized for the WVWD’s current operations.

The project includes a new Entry Courtyard inspired by water-drop geometry, a dynamic Lobby Gallery that cuts through the heart of the facility, a multi-functional Board Room, and an open office area bathed in natural light through large porthole skylights. The facility is wrapped in a new rainscreen façade inspired by wave dynamics.

MWD Water Quality Laboratory

The project renovates and expands the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Water Quality Lab at the Weymouth facility in La Verne, growing the nearly 40-year-old building to 90,000 SF of modern, flexible laboratory space. New public lobby and exhibit areas support educational tours, while a Lecture Hall, Conference suite, and meeting areas anchor gatherings of scientists, technicians, and visiting guests. The design emphasizes efficiency and collaboration to support Metropolitan's evolving water quality testing mandates.

Baldwin Park Zocalo Park

Susan Rubio Zocalo Park is the first new City park in over ten years. The 2.75-acre park is a "passive park," placing minimal stress on the site's resources and providing ecosystem benefits that help protect natural resources. The park includes a Community Resource Center, a retail building, art installations, a pavilion, decorative lighting, accessible pathways, and bike lanes for everyone to enjoy.

Rendering of Susan Rubio Zocalo Park

“After more than two years of the pandemic, the Susan Rubio Zocalo Park is a symbol of recovery for the City of Baldwin Park. Through this passive park and plaza, the Baldwin Park City Council remains committed to fostering an economically thriving downtown in Baldwin Park and ensuring every resident feels welcome to enjoy their downtown," said Mayor Emmanuel J. Estrada.

Live Oak Library, Arcadia CA

Located in suburban Arcadia, Live Oak Library is an adaptive reuse of an existing infill building that provides dispersed library services to residents. The project involved the re-imagining of an outdated and dark series of spaces. The building was ‘cracked open’ at its two exposed facades to allow dual entry, as well as bring in needed natural light. The staggered glassy entrances contrast with rich wood paneling. New skylights enliven formerly dark interiors, making the volume seem larger. Spaces within are tailored to the specific users – children, teens, adults and seniors.  At the front entrance, teen reading carrels are nested within the staggered glass storefront. A ‘zone of silence’ for small study groups is located in a nearby glass bubble.

The project included extensive upgrades to the HVAC and electrical, and low voltage systems. The building was made fully accessible, with new restrooms and ADA designed pathways. Sustainable design was incorporated from the beginning, and the project is targeting LEED Gold. The project is currently under construction.
